ha - that’s what we did too, just yesterday, (and pulled out the candles and flashlights...) No hurricane, but it’s blowing pretty good here already - just knocked the neighbors trash can over...

Ha good first step. Now get your hurricane kit, cause that’s effectively what’s coming.

I had the tall trees around my house trimmed quite aggressively last week. Good decision as it turns out....but hopefully the city’s trees don’t fall on my three cars parked neatly in a row under them. Now all I have to do is drink wine and listen to the downpour and the rising wind.

Remnants of a typhoon, maybe, but a hurricane it is not.

So does everyone else, apparently. This will pass.

Typhoon = hurricane in the Pacific. High winds in Western Washington are a lot more dangerous due to tall trees and shallow roots. Even if we don’t see hurricane force winds, the damage could be significant. I guess what I’m saying is that if forecast models hold, Saturday afternoon/evening stay at home.

A typhoon is a hurricane that spins in the opposite direction, usually in the southern hemisphere. Typhoons and hurricanes have very specific characteristics. If this were a typhoon or hurricane, meteorologists would have given it a name by now.

Yeah it’s remnants - but typhoons are in the northern hemisphere and spin in the same direction (they spin in the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere and are called cyclones there - it’s the Simpsons toilet bowl coriolis effect). While it’s an extratropical storm now (i.e. no eye) 40-50 mile/hr+ winds will mess some stuff up bad here. Wife says buoy readings are off the charts, they are expecting 40ft seas and hurricane force winds offshore. The Olympics will knock it down some, but be safe out there.
